What Is the Dutch Ayahuasca Brew?
Our Dutch ayahuasca brew is the legal ceremonial brew we use for our ayahuasca retreats in the Netherlands. In every Dutch ceremony we always work with two legal components together: the ayahuasca vine and psilocybin truffles.
The ayahuasca vine brew is made from Banisteriopsis caapi and contains no DMT, which is why the vine is fully legal in the Netherlands. Alongside the vine we always serve legal psilocybin truffles (sclerotia). These are two distinct components, always used together as part of the same ceremony.
In our Ayahuasca Retreats in Costa Rica we work with the traditional jungle brew instead, the ayahuasca vine with Chacruna (Psychotria viridis), which is not prohibited and practiced openly there.
It was developed from more than 15 years of ayahuasca work, including experience with indigenous Amazonian traditions and European ceremonial settings. It is not presented as a copy of the traditional jungle brew. It is our legal Dutch expression of ayahuasca work, created to support the same depth of inner process within a safe and lawful setting in the Netherlands.
In the Shipibo tradition, one of the most respected Amazonian lineages, the true spiritual power and healing potential of ayahuasca is believed to reside in the vine itself.
People who come to ayahuasca work are often seeking emotional release, trauma healing, spiritual connection, self-understanding, life direction and a deeper sense of inner peace. Our Dutch ayahuasca brew is held within the same ceremonial principles: preparation, intention, surrender, music, guidance, safety, integration and respect for the process.

Dutch Ayahuasca Brew and Traditional Jungle Ayahuasca
Both approaches are rooted in deep ceremonial work.
Traditional jungle ayahuasca is usually connected to Amazonian contexts and is not legally available in the Netherlands.
Our Dutch ayahuasca brew was created so we can offer ayahuasca work in a legal, professional and well-supported Dutch retreat setting. The experience is not chemically identical to the traditional jungle brew, but the intention, depth, ceremonial structure and inner themes can be deeply aligned.
Both may support emotional release, spiritual insight, expanded awareness, self-reflection and personal transformation. The difference is that our Dutch ayahuasca brew allows this work to take place legally in the Netherlands, with careful screening, preparation, professional guidance and integration.
What Our Participant Data Shows
We analyzed more than 320 retreat intention statements from participants. The most common reasons people came to us were:
Trauma, grief & emotional healing
Anxiety, depression & mental pressure
Spiritual growth & consciousness exploration
Life purpose, self-discovery & direction
Relationship healing & deeper connection
This shows that most people do not come simply to “try ayahuasca.” They come because they are ready for meaningful inner work.
Our role is not to promise a fixed outcome. Our role is to create the safest possible container for deep inner work, so your own process can unfold with care, structure and support.
Why People Choose Our Ayahuasca Retreat in the Netherlands
Many people feel called to ayahuasca because something in their life is asking for deeper attention.
- Some come with grief, emotional pain or unresolved experiences from the past.
- Some come because they feel stuck in anxiety, overthinking, depression or burnout.
- Some come because they have done therapy or personal development work, but still feel something has not fully shifted.
- Some come because they are searching for meaning, spiritual connection, life purpose or clarity.
- Some come to reconnect with themselves, their body, their heart, their relationships and their inner truth.
Whatever brings you here, you are supported through preparation, ceremony and integration in a safe and legal Dutch setting.
What Participants Experience
After their retreat, participants consistently describe an experience that is deep, healing and clarifying, often more so than they expected.
In reflection surveys collected over the past 10 months, participants rated their experience highly:
- Average depth of inner process: 9.0 out of 10
- Average for how well the experience met expectations: 9.2 out of 10
- More than 90 percent rated both 8 out of 10 or higher
The most common pattern is a shift from doubt to surprise. Many people arrive wondering whether a legal Dutch brew can really go deep enough. Afterwards, the most frequent reflection is that it went deeper than they expected.
Participants who had previously sat with traditional ayahuasca often described our Dutch brew as different rather than less. They described it as more clear, more gentle, easier on the body, more inward and more emotionally accessible.
Across these surveys, what people valued most was not the food, the location or the setting. It was the depth of the healing, the insight, the sense of safety and the support of the team.
